Stoner Satisfied Spies Defeat in Last Lap

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner claimed to take the risk on the last
lap to beat Valencia MotoGP Ben Spies by just 0.015 seconds advantage.
Stoner won a dramatic victory in the MotoGP Valencia, Sunday, November
6, 2011. Had far superior to the middle of the race, Stoner Spies
overtaken on lap 28 after cornering too wide. 2011 MotoGP world
champion was trying hard to overtake Spies. However, Stoner will be
the moment to overtake the Yamaha rider on the last lap. Stoner's
efforts paid off when the two fight on the track straight ahead of the
finish line. Spies caught up with Stoner and crossed the finish line
0.015 seconds faster than the drivers from the United States. Stoner
claimed to spend his best to overtake Spies. The Australian rider did
not want to close the 2011 MotoGP season with just being in second
place. "In the middle of the last lap, I thought 'this Momennya, this
last lap of the season', and I decided to remove everything and take
all the risk in the appeal before the race," said Stoner, told
Autosport. "The results were positive. We were able to catch up to Ben
Spies on the final corner. I think I would not be able to perform
better in a straight line as the last and I was able to defeat it. I'm
sorry for Ben, but we are happy to close the season this way," he
continued . Victory in Valencia became the 10th victory this season.
Thus, the Stoner 90 points ahead of closest rival, Jorge Lorenzo, at
the end of the season.
